The Mission

newchoir's mission is to be the most entertaining rock choir in Canada by fostering an artistic community that creates and performs original and challenging choral arrangements of rock and pop music. We strive to show that a rock choir can perform with the same level of excellency, passion and artistry as the best choirs of any genre!

We also highlight the works of Canada's great songwriters. However, choral arrangements of Canadian songs are few and far between so they must be created and that's what we do. No other choir organization is doing that to the extent newchoir is.  Over the years newchoir has commissioned and performed new arrangements of songs by Steven Page, Sarah Slean, Hawksley Workman, Jeremy Fisher, The Guess Who, Walk Off the Earth, Alanis Morrisette, Blue Rodeo, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Jully Black, Metric, Bryan Adams, Sarah McLachlan, The Sheepdogs, Serena Ryder, Bruce Cockburn, K-os, The Weeknd, Neil Young, Metric, Justin Bieber, Bobby Bazini and many more great Canadian songwriters.  

Most of the work of running newchoir is performed by volunteers, so donations go directly to commissioning new arrangements, providing the learning tools that help our singers perform at their highest capacity and hiring professional musicians and guest artists.  We have donation levels to suit every budget. Every donation will make a big difference to newchoir.
