To strengthen the abilities of children with special needs and to enhance opportunities for them to participate in their community.

We believe:

• Families are of primary importance in their child’s development.
• Children and their families are entitled to be treated with respect and should have equal rights.
• Teamwork best meets the child’s and family’s needs.
• Families require complete and unbiased information in a supportive manner in order to make informed decisions about their child.
• Intervention is best provided as soon as a need is identified.
• Every child should have equal access to full community participation.
• Every child has the potential for growth.

About Our Charity:

For over 40 years, NONA has been helping children with a wide variety of developmental challenges in the North Okanagan. Our staff assists families to understand their child's strengths, needs and abilities and provides ways for families to help their children develop and learn.

We currently offer the following programs: Infant Development, Physio & Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Therapy, Supported Child Development, Family Support, FASD Key Worker Program, and Autism services.

Since 2006, NONA has been accredited by the Commission for the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities for Child and Youth Services and for Supports for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.  NONA has an exclusive contract with Interior Health for all Autism assessment services and also shares Treehouse workspace with local pediatricians. 

NONA's collaborative relationships lead to positive support for NONA’s non-funded, capital needs such as our playground, and building and equipment needs. A new building will enhance opportunities for further collaboration.
