About North Okanagan Hospice Society

The North Okanagan Hospice Society (NOHS) is dedicated to providing compassionate end-of-life and bereavement care to individuals and their loved ones across our community. Since our incorporation in 1984, we have been committed to ensuring that no one faces life’s final journey alone.

Recognizing a gap in care, the residents of the North Okanagan advocated for a residential hospice option to complement the palliative care services already offered by the Society. In 1999, the Society's Board of Directors responded by initiating the construction of a free-standing six-bed Hospice House, which expanded to a 12-bed facility in 2008. This home-like environment offers an alternative to hospital care when remaining at home is no longer feasible, providing comfort, dignity, and support during life’s final chapter.

Today, NOHS continues to evolve to meet the growing and changing needs of our community. Through our Hospice at Home program, bereavement support services, and community education initiatives, we extend our reach beyond our residential facility. Our mission is to normalize conversations about death, empower individuals to make informed care decisions, and foster a community where end-of-life care is accessible to all.

Guided by fiscal responsibility and a deep commitment to compassionate care, the North Okanagan Hospice Society is recognized for delivering excellence in palliative care and for making moments matter in the lives of the individuals and families we serve.
