Improving social connections for seniors and others who are isolated North Shore Community Resources Society is actively engaged in the work of improving social connections and reducing isolation in seniors. The Caregiver Support program provides education, resources and opportunities for unpaid caregivers to connect with each other in a safe and supportive environment. Caregivers, who provide 80% of the in-home care to an adult family member or friend with a health condition, often have higher levels stress due to their caregiving role. Over 85% of caregivers who participate in our program are 65 years or older. Caregivers who participate in our program express a reduction in levels of stress and feelings of isolation. They identify important benefits they receive from our network groups, workshops, on-on-one consultations related to the emotional and practical aspects of caregiving.
