Northern Association for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder

about

The Northern Association for FASD is a non-profit charity providing support to families and caregivers of individuals suspected or diagnosed with FASD in Northern Alberta. Our specialized programming makes a difference in the  lives of families we work with. Referrals to our programs are accepted by both agency and self referral. Our programs include the Families Moving Forward program which is for families with children 4-12 years of age. This is a curriculum based home visitation program that links families to community resources and provides supportive behavioral consultation. The Resilient Families program is for parents with FASD raising their children. This program supports the parents to overcome various barriers that can cause family disruption, chaos, and stress that weaken the family ties. This is a early intervention/prevention program that tries to prevent the need for child protective services to become involved. The Parent Outreach Crisis Intervention program is for parents and caregivers of youth aged 13-18 who require support in accessing services and behavioral consultation. Safety planning with the family is completed a well as ongoing FASD education. Our organization also provides in-service and community based FASD education by request free of charge within our service delivery area.
