Cruisin' for Snoezelen®

Campaign Ends June 30, 2019

Cruisin' for Snoezelen®  is a $170,000 fundraising campaign for the North Shore Disability Resource Centre's Mobile Snoezelen® (Multi-sensory) Room program. This will be the first program of its kind in Canada providing mobile multi-sensory therapies and disability education services across a community. The program will support thousands of North Shore families with disabilities, including children with autism, seniors with dementia, and adults with mental illness and PTSD.  Please donate today!

NSDRC Mobile Snoezelen® (Multi-Sensory) Room program- an inclusive “game-changing” mobile technology which can be easily transported (towed) to accessible locations throughout the North Shore. The program will provide therapeutic multi-sensory treatments which elevate the quality of life for children and adults with a variety of disabilities and cognitive conditions.

Snoezelen® environments deliver stimuli to various senses and offer a relaxed atmosphere, including soothing sounds, light effects, aromas, tactile experiences, massage, vibrosonic sensations, and gentle movement which allow the user to calm themselves and self-regulate.

Snoezelen® environments can benefit people of all ages with a wide range of cognitive conditions. They are typically used for children with Autism, individuals with challenging behaviours, people with learning disabilities, mental illness, brain injury, dementia and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Mobile Wellness: the mobile Snoezelen® environment will provide a new layer of “easy to access” support for North Shore families which can be easily transported to where it’s needed, making any location or event “autism or dementia” friendly.

Proximity: A mobile Snoezelen® unit can be used during community and cultural events as engagement and awareness tools for fostering inclusion and a deeper understanding of accessibility and disability.

Thank you for supporting this important program! We are grateful to all our donors for their support, and for recognizing that building a more accessible & inclusive community for people with disabilities, benefits everyone!
