1.03 Ted Harrison Arts Legacy Fund

Oak Bay Rotary Foundation is soliciting donations to grow the Ted Harrison Arts Legacy Endowment Fund. This legacy fund is intended to serve as an inspiration and motivation for elementary students and their teacher's to pursue their love of the arts.

Ted Harrison (1926-2015) was born in Wingate UK. In 1967 Ted (and his wife Nicky) immigrated to Canada and settled in Carcross just outside Whitehorse in the Yukon. In 1987, Ted received the Order of Canada for his contribution to Canadian culture. Ted & Nicky moved to Victoria in 1993 where Ted became a beloved Member of the Rotary Club of Oak Bay. Nicky Harrison died from Alzheimer's disease in 2000. After Nicky's death, Ted Harrison dedicated much of his time to sharing his love of the arts with children and their teachers. Ted Harrison passed away in Victoria on January 16, 2015 at the age of 88, leaving a legacy of vivid, folkish and whimsical art based on the landscapes and life of the Yukon and BC coastal life.

As soon as Oak Bay Rotary Foundation accumulates sufficient endowment funds, it will offer annual bursaries to elementary schools and their teachers and students to pursue their love of the arts.

As of November 18, 2023, Ted Harrison Arts Legacy Endowment Fund has grown to $6,057.95.
