CONCERTS AND STUDENT PROGRAMS
We believe that classical music is an essential element in the cultural life of the Oceanside area. Oceanside Classical Concerts Society is committed to changing lives through music’s extraordinary power to communicate, inspire, uplift and entertain.
We celebrate artistic excellence in classical music by presenting live performances of the world’s great masterpieces by nationally and internationally acclaimed musicians, and promotion of Canadian artists.
In addition to our concert series, OCCS has several programs that support youth in their enjoyment of and pursuit of music.
THE OCCS GENERAL FUND
Your donation to the General Fund will ensure excellence in concert operations, support the musical instrument lending program for youth, and assist in funding in-school concerts for students.
Through our guest performers we offer in-school concerts where local music students are able to interact with and learn from these professional musicians. This is a unique and inspirational opportunity for the students.
The musical instrument lending program enables music students who cannot afford to purchase or rent an instrument to borrow one from OCCS at no cost to them. OCCS receives musical instruments from donors then pays for any repairs or refurbishment required.
THE OCCS SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Our Society is dedicated to fostering the future of all forms of music by supporting local aspiring musicians. Our fundraising focus is on building the OCCS Scholarship Fund and achieving the second goal in our society Constitution – “… advance education by providing scholarships based on academic achievement to high school graduates and students enrolled in post-secondary music programs and seeking a music-related career.” Studies in all genre of music qualify for scholarship support.
OCCS awards one or more scholarships each year based on academic achievement and an adjudicated competition.
Your donation to the Scholarship Fund will ensure the continuing financial support for local aspiring musicians. We invite you to join us in this exciting initiative.
