This GivingTuesday, the Ontario Finnish Resthome Foundation invites our community to “Slide into Comfort and Cheers” and “Make Every Entrance a Warm Welcome.”
We’re raising $40,000 to complete a much-needed accessibility and safety upgrade at Suomi Eesti Maja (SEM) home to many of our senior residents. The current entrance door has become heavy and unreliable, making it difficult for residents who rely on walkers and even creating challenges for emergency responders.
By installing a new automatic sliding door, we’ll make the entrance safer, easier, and more welcoming for everyone residents, staff, volunteers, and visitors. SEM is also a hub for the Ladies Auxiliary, the Thrift Store, and Kestitupa, where special events bring together residents, families, and the wider community. This upgrade will ensure that everyone can participate and move freely, with comfort and dignity.
The Foundation is committed to supporting all our buildings and programs one step at a time through community fundraising and grants. Each project we undertake is guided by need and impact, ensuring that every improvement strengthens the care, safety, and sense of belonging shared across the Ontario Finnish Resthome.
Together, we can open the door to a safer, more inclusive, and more caring environment for all.
