The Okanagan Fruit Tree Project Society's mission is to build community through growing and harvesting local food. Our amazing volunteers help us grow and harvest thousands of pounds of fruits and vegetables that are then shared with our volunteers and members of our community. Our food donations support over 80 social service agencies in the Okanagan in their food programming which nourishes thousands of child, youth, families, seniors, and other members of our community who do not have enough money to buy the food they need to support their health and wellbeing.
We have two main programs: Gleaning and farming. In our gleaning program, our volunteers visit homes, orchards, and farms to harvest food that would otherwise go to waste. In our farming program, our volunteers grow and harvest vegetables. Both programs are inclusive and we welcome any member of our community to dig in the dirt with us and learn about local food.
