One Body Village Canada

What is the Problem?

One in every four victims of human trafficking, including sexual abuse and exploitation, are children under the age of 18. Children must be protected from all forms of abuse, violence, and exploitation.

Vision, Mission & Values

One Body Village Canada envisions freedom for all children from abuse, violence and exploitation.

Our mission is to a) improve the lives of sexually exploited children in Southeast Asia through shelter, education, medical care, psychological counseling, and vocational training and b) to combat child sexual exploitation by empowering communities to be catalysts for change.

We value respect and dignity for all, to conduct ourselves in a way that is honest, transparent, and ethical, as well as good stewardship of the donations we receive. We strive to direct no less than 90% of our donor's financial contributions to benefit our programs, services, and children.

How We Started

Inspired by the founding organization, One Body Village Inc. (USA), which has existed since 1999, we brought their mission to protect vulnerable children in Southeast Asia to Canada in 2012.

We registered as a non-profit in 2016 and received our charitable registration with Canada Revenue Agency on April 1, 2017. We proudly work in partnership with One Body Village USA to deliver our charitable activities.

Where We Work

In developing countries like Vietnam and Cambodia, widespread poverty, low education, cultural attitudes, pervasive corruption, and limited resources make children particularly vulnerable to sexual abuse and exploitation. Without our help, children in these areas would never receive the support they need to rebuild their lives.

We operate in Canada, the United States of America, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, and other undisclosed locations in Southeast Asia.

What We Do

Our comprehensive programs and services include crisis intervention, care planning and case management, repatriation of trafficked victims, and 2 confidential shelters. We also provide all basic needs, education, medical care, psychological counseling, life skills training, and vocational training free of charge. Our prevention activities include community outreach and education related to child protection in high-risk communities in Southeast Asia.

How You Can Help

Whether you give once or join our growing monthly donor community, you are making a positive impact in the lives of so many vulnerable children who need you. In 2020, we directly benefitted 116 children, including 32 children that were provided safe shelter!
