As smoke blankets our province, Northern Ontario communities are facing an unprecedented crisis.
The wildfires you’ve seen in the news are creating desperate situations for animals and the communities that love them. The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society is working directly with first responders, local community partners, and First Nations Chiefs who are requesting our assistance while managing the evacuation of their people.
We’ve already distributed over 22,000 pounds of food through 10 emergency requests coordinated through the provincial emergency response centre since April 30. And this is just the beginning. Together, we need your help to to continue these response efforts.
Your support will provide necessary pet supplies like food, collars, leashes, safe housing, and possibly medical care for animals and their families in need. You're not just helping animals, you're preserving the bond between people and their beloved pets during a challenging time in their lives.
Your donation covers things like:
•$50 provides 25lbs of emergency food for animals awaiting evacuation
•$250 supplies a crate to safely transport and house 1 dog temporarily
•$750 covers the transportation out of a remote community for 1 animal
