Giving Tuesday 2023

Giving Tuesday is November 28th and is a global campaign to increase awareness and fundraising for charities.

Ontario Streams is a charity based out of York Region that leads habitat restoration work across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond. Our mission is to promote the protection and rehabilitation of Ontario’s streams, rivers, and wetlands through education and community action. Some examples of our projects include tree planting, habitat enhancement in rivers, invasive species management, and garbage cleanups.

For a third year, we are happy to announce that our friends at Cascades will be matching our Giving Tuesday donations up to $2,000. Cascades is a leader in sustainability with a vision to share innovative recycling solutions for local communities and the planet. Earlier this year, we partnered with Cascades to collect garbage and plant trees at along Elgin Channel in Richmond Hill which is a sensitive habitat upstream of Rouge National Urban Park. We collected five full bags of litter and planted 114 trees which will lead to a healthier habitat in the park and will supply cleaner water to the endangered species in Rouge National Urban Park.

With your donation today, we will be able to continue to lead our vital conservation projects and programs to protect and restore habitats that need our help. Much of our work is done within the Greater Toronto Area where ecosystems are threatened by development, human activity, and climate change. Your financial contribution will support lasting environmental projects to help keep our local habitats and wildlife resilient to our changing urban centers.

Thank you for considering Ontario Streams and we hope you will join us for volunteer events in the spring!
