Our mission is to transform lives by increasing access to quality eye care. Together with our partners, we train eye care teams, strengthen eye health systems and work on the ground to provide lasting solutions to communities in need.
About Orbis Canada
We are an international non-profit that brings people together in the fight against avoidable blindness.
With the help of our amazing partners and supporters, we have been a pioneer in the prevention and treatment of blindness for 35 years. Since 1982, we have conducted training programs in over 92 countries, and trained hundreds of thousands of medical professionals.
We have over 50 long-term programs around the world across countries including India, Bangladesh, Nepal, China, Vietnam, Ethiopia, South Africa, Ghana, Zambia, Cameroon, Peru, Mongolia and Indonesia. Alongside our partners, we have trained hundreds of thousands of health care professionals (doctors, nurses, biomedical engineers and eye care workers) over the past 35 years. As a result, we have positively impacted the lives of millions of men, women and children by conducting over 3,532,737 screenings and examinations in 2016 alone.
