The Orchestre de la Francophonie (O.F.) was founded in 2001 during the 4th edition of the Jeux de la Francophonie held in Ottawa-Hull. It quickly established itself as an exceptional springboard for the most talented young musicians from Québec and Canada who wish to embark upon a career with a professional ensemble.
Since its founding, and under the inspired direction of conductor Jean-Philippe Tremblay, the OF has played more than 300 concerts to acclaim, throughout Canada, the United States, Germany and China. During these concerts, 100 soloists have played alongside the orchestra as it has performed 43 commissioned works by young Québec and Canadian composers. To date, 1,283 musicians have benefited from their experience with the OF, roughly three-quarters of whom have since gone on to careers with national and international orchestras.
