OrKidstra is an Ottawa-based social development program that empowers kids from under-served communities by teaching life skills through the universal language of music. We provide children from low-income families with FREE instruments and music lessons, which gives them the chance to learn important life skills through playing and singing together.
Your donation will help kids take their first steps into the world of music with a recorder! OrKidstra's KiddlyWinks is an energetic music and movement program that’s great fun for children ages 5 – 8 years old.
With your support, OrKidstra can continue to bring the joys and challenges of making music together to children who might otherwise be left out.
Our free after-school programs (KiddlyWinks, KidSingers, KidDrummers, KidPlayers, KidStringers and OrKidstra) gives kids from under-served Ottawa areas the chance to find their voice and grow their potential through music.
With the passionate belief in the transformative power of music, OrKidstra started with 27 children in 2007 and now includes more than 700 children, ages 5 to 18, from 62 linguistic and cultural backgrounds; many are from new Canadian families. We're proud to say that 100% of OrKidstra graduates have completed high school and gone onto post-secondary education.
