OrKidstra is an Ottawa-based social development program that empowers kids from equity-deserving communities by teaching life skills through the universal language of music. We provide children from low-income families with FREE instruments and music lessons, which gives them the chance to learn important life skills through playing and singing together.

Your donation will help children take their first steps into the world of music! OrKidstra's KiddlyWinks is a lively music and movement program designed for kids ages 5–8. The recorder offers a wide range of benefits, from improving fine motor skills to fostering creativity, teamwork, and self-esteem. As a fun and approachable instrument, it encourages children to joyfully explore music while building a foundation for lifelong learning and musical enjoyment.

Our free after-school programs give kids from low-income Ottawa areas the chance to find their voice and grow their potential through music. With the passionate belief in the transformative power of music, OrKidstra started with 27 children in 2007 and now includes more than 700 children, ages 5 to 18, from 62 linguistic and cultural backgrounds; many are from new Canadian families. We're proud to say that 100% of OrKidstra graduates have completed high school and gone on to post-secondary education.
