Kathi Langston's positive impact on the Ottawa School of Theatre and community is hard to measure. Under her care, OST has expanded to include two huge intergenerational All Ages Plays every year; classes in both English and French; and lots of fun and community engagement paired with serious theatre training. The Shenkman Arts Centre was built with the help of her dedicated advocacy, and she worked to set the foundation of the arts partnerships that are the lifeblood of the centre. Most importantly, she has provided a loving space for children and youth to grow as artists and as people. If you've interacted with Kathi, you understand the important place she has in the lives of many.
To celebrate the amazing legacy that Kathi has built at the Ottawa School of Theatre, the Kathi Langston Post-Secondary Scholarship and Internal Award were created by OST Board in support of young artists to access theatre education. The Kathi Langston Post-Secondary Scholarship grants up to two $1000 cash awards to past or current Ottawa School of Theatre students between the age of 17-25 to pursue their post-secondary education in the performing arts. Likewise, the Kathi Langston Internal Award grants up to two $500 scholarships to current OST students to continue their studies at OST in the subsequent school year. Both the scholarship and internal award will be dedicated to one student from our English classes and one from our French classes.
Help us to honour Kathi and empower our theatre students by making a tax deductible donation to this scholarship fund.
