Since its inaugural concert in 1941, the Ottawa Choral Society has evolved into one of Canada’s most ambitious and prominent symphonic choruses.  With one hundred and twenty auditioned voices, the Society presents the masterpieces of the choral literature and commissions and performs the works of modern composers.

The choir’s repertoire ranges from the complex polyphony of the Baroque and Renaissance to the jazz-influenced rhythms and harmonies of contemporary composers. The Society supports the development of Canadian talent through a commissioning program and choral bursaries.

In addition to its self-produced subscription series, the Choir regularly appears as the guest of the National Arts Centre Orchestra and has partnered with the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra and the Ottawa Chamber Music Society. The Society is proud of its exciting initiatives that provide a platform for the City's children's and youth choirs and emerging professional concert artists.
