Award-Winning Immersive Theatre Company
Outside the March creates unforgettable immersive encounters—redefining the experience of theatre for a new generation of audiences.
We are dedicated to work that is:
IMMERSIVE: intimate and immediate theatrical encounters that endure
SITE-ENGAGING: transforming found spaces into playgrounds of performance
NEW: urgent stories that grapple with our here and now
WIDE-REACHING: inviting and exciting audiences who don’t normally find themselves at the theatre
COMMUNAL: forging resonant collaborations between artists of all levels of experience
Over the past eleven years, we have become one of Canada’s leading immersive theatre companies, inviting our audiences to play with us in kindergarten classrooms, parade with Queen Elizabeth along the Danforth, tinker in garages, congregate in churches, venture out on a 911 paramedic call, weather the apocalypse in an abandoned adult movie theatre, fill an old funeral home with love stories, and join us up onstage at the Royal Alexandra Theatre.
Most recently, we’ve been making connections during the isolation of COVID-19 with our award-winning, over-the-phone immersive experience The Ministry of Mundane Mysteries, and our theatre-by-zoom world premieres of four short plays, The Stream You Step In (co-produced with the University of Windsor).
OtM is led by Artistic Director Mitchell Cushman, Managing Producer Katherine Devlin Rosenfeld, and Core Artistic Team Nick Blais, Ishai Buchbinder, Katherine Cullen, Anahita Dehbonehie, Sebastien Heins, Jeff Ho, Amy Keating, Laura McCallum, Griffin McInnes, Rosamund Small, and Michelle Yagi.
Previous productions include Mr. Marmalade, Terminus, Passion Play, Mr. Burns, Vitals, TomorrowLoveTM, Dr. Silver: A Celebration of Life, The Tape Escape, and more.
