A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake has struck western Colombia, killing hundreds of people and injuring thousands. Buildings and homes have collapsed, families have been displaced, and thousands of people remain missing as rescue teams continue searching the rubble for survivors.
The first days after an earthquake are critical. People may be without safe water, food, shelter or sanitation, while damaged roads and infrastructure make it harder to reach the communities most affected.
Oxfam has worked in Colombia for years. Following the earthquake, Oxfam teams and local partners mobilized quickly to assess the damage and understand what affected communities need most.
