PEI Citizen Advocacy is a small non-profit organization which matches volunteers (advocates) with adults who have an intellectual disability (proteges) on a one-on-one basis. The advocate becomes a friend, but also provides support and advocacy to their protégé and makes sure that their voice is heard.
The PEI Citizen Advocacy office provides support to the matches which they facilitate.
The hope is always that the relationships will be long-term. Many of our matches are over 15 years old.
