2018 marks the 35th year Parker Street Food & Furniture Bank has been supporting people in need in Halifax.
We're asking you to donate $35; $1 for every year we've fed, clothed, furnished homes, paid power bills, filled oil tanks, provided school supplies, diapers and baby food, bus tickets, and even provided trades and computer training to help people break the cycle of poverty.
We need your help to continue to provide our services as we receive no government funding.
As Charles Dickens once said, "No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another." At the end of the day, the core function of our food bank is just that. Lightening another's burden -- be it the man who lost everything in a fire, the mother of three who works two low-paying jobs, the children who experience hunger when school is not in session, the twenty-something who is caught in the cycle of drug addiction or the family that is brand new to this country. People with those realities come through our doors every week and we provide what we hope is a piece of the puzzle that will allow them to lay the burden down.
Please make a $35 donation to our general fund and help us help others who are struggling.
