Help Us Help Parrots!

Many people are surprised to learn that parrots are the third most popular pet in North America.

Since parrots are so smart and sometimes talk, people think they make great pets. However, because they are still wild, the reality is that parrots are far more challenging to live with than domestic animals. Their intellect means they need to be constantly challenged. They are social animals, so they don't like to be left alone very often. In the wild, parrots fly long distances each day looking for food, which is impossible to do in even the largest home. To top it all off, medical expenses for parrots can cost up to three times more than they do for dogs and cats—and they can live up to 80 years! 

All of this means that there are more and more parrots who find themselves abandoned or surrendered because their owners can no longer care for them. Parrot Partner is a home for parrots in need. We rescue abandoned parrots, rehabilitate them and help them find new homes. Many parrots that come to us have experienced physical or mental trauma. We lovingly tend to these birds helping them to heal and trust again.

Parrot Partner is also a resource for people who are responsible for parrots. We provide education, training, advice and support to parrot owners. We try to find the best new homes that we can for the birds in our care, carefully screening applicants and making sure that new parrot guardians have the skills to care for their charges for years to come!Our flock of almost 40 birds needs a lot of room to spread its wings! Parrots are expensive. We are entirely volunteer run and we work hard to provide the best for the birds in our care. Please give generously and help us care for the parrots!
