Please help Pip get cleft palate surgery!

Pip arrived at Paws Above Rescue on October 10, 2024 when he was only one-week-old. His owner had a litter of Havenese pups and noticed that Pip had a cleft lip and turned to us for help.

When Pip arrived, he couldn't feed properly. He needed to be tube-fed and closely monitored. Many puppies with a cleft palate don’t make it through this stage. Even when tube-fed, they can aspirate the formula and develop pneumonia.

Our growing Pip is getting stronger! At three weeks old, he started drinking on his own using a small water dispenser tube. Now he is six weeks old and no longer needs to be tube fed food - he can feed on his own!

When Pip reaches five months old, he is expected to be ready for cleft palate surgery. The cost of surgery to repair his cleft palate is estimated to be between $2,500 to $3,200.

When Pip turns eight weeks old, he will be placed for adoption to find his forever home. Paws Above Rescue will cover the cleft palate surgery even after he has been adopted.

He is currently in foster care in the Greater Toronto Area.
