About PEACH: PROMOTING EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY HEALTH
We work to build the resiliency of adolescent youth who have encountered a crisis in their education – a crisis that often has deep roots outside their schooling: in poverty, racism, mental health, youth criminal justice involvement, violence in the community and substance use. But youth are much more, and much more promising, than this list of challenges. We resist the “deficit model” that views youth as problems. We cannot remove the risks that have had an adverse effect on the lives of youth who come through our doors. We CAN provide relationships and experiences that reduce the impact of this adversity. Resiliency means that youth can bounce back from the current crisis, and be more resilient in meeting future challenges.
Our programs -- School Away from School, Wraparound, Moms Group, Music Studio, Youth Outreach -- all support youth's resiliency in setting and supporting goals for healthier more stable futures.
