The Pender Islands Conservancy Association is dedicated to protecting and preserving special places for future generations. We encourage property owners to protect sensitive ecosystems through conservation covenants, and assist with the management of those covenants. Our volunteers are involved in a variety of projects, including forage fish monitoring, bird surveys and monitoring, bat surveys and monitoring, the restoration of Hope Bay Stream for chum salmon, eelgrass meadow restoration, bull kelp mapping, beach clean-ups and invasive species control. Our volunteers operate the Conservancy Nature Centre at Hope Bay, where we provide the community with information about our ecological restoration, conservation and monitoring activities, advice on how to reduce individual impacts on the environment, and provide locally made, sustainable products for sale in our gift shop.
