About the People’s Food Institute

Mission:

The People’s Food Institute is a Canadian registered charity that was established to support food movement leaders to advance research, education and networking on the right to food, food sovereignty, food security, sustainable food systems and ecological agricultural practices.

History:

The People’s Food Institute was inspired by the People’s Food Policy Project and formed by close friends of Food Secure Canada to support research, education and networking across the food movement.

Charitable Purposes:

The charitable organization works towards these goals by:

1. Advancing education on issues related to the right to food, food security, and food sovereignty by conducting research, providing workshops, seminars, webinars and conferences to the public.

2. Promoting health by educating the public on health, nutrition, and sustainable food systems.

3. Promoting excellence and efficiencies in agriculture in Canada for the benefit of the public by conducting research on best practices related to ecological agricultural practices and disseminating results of the research to the public.

4. To do all such things as are incidental or ancillary to the attainment of the above purposes
