POP Montreal International Music Festival is an annual not-for-profit festival that champions independence in the arts by presenting emerging and celebrated artistic talents from Montreal and around the world. POP collaborates with community partners to produce hundreds of cultural events each year and offers a large number of free and affordable events in accessible public spaces.
Highlights 2023
- Indigenous Peoples Day at Cabot Square on June 21, in partnership with Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal and Resilience Montreal
- Emancipation Day event at Parc Oscar-Peterson on Jul 30, 2023, in partnership with Youth in Motion, The Centre for Canadians of African Descent & DESTA
- National Day for Truth and Reconciliation March on October 30, 2023, in partnership with Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal and Resilience Montreal
- L'Entrepôt77: 14 weekends of free and accessible outdoor programming presented with community partners, including Queer and BIPOC markets, film screenings, workshops, DJ nights, music performances and kids’ events.
- Collaboration with LOVE (Québec): 11 youth produced a creative video project as part of a 3-day leadership camp, to be presented on September 28th at POP Montreal.
- Kids POP: Grand Chief Salamoo Cook Is Coming to Town! Performance by acclaimed author Tomson Highway on October 1, 2023.
- POP Symposium: 5-day program of free panel discussions and workshops offering practical support to emerging artists and tackling pressing questions around the music industry and music’s sociocultural impact.
