The Access to Art Fund supports a diverse range of individuals and groups who are experiencing financial barriers to accessing the benefits of art. The positive impacts of art are often overlooked: art plays a critical role in our sense of self, community, and the experiences that knit us together socially. In times of change and transition, art can provide a platform of expression of our personal experiences, facilitate mental and emotional processing, provide an open space for creativity, and enable a sense of personal choice, control, and confidence.
For newcomers to Canada, especially artists, access to artistic practices, tools, and community is a daily need as they navigate high levels of change. The Access to Art Fund is currently raising money for newcomers: children, teens, adults, and families.
Our partner organizations help connect individuals and families to us. And with your help, we will connect these individuals and families to art. We find creative ways to overcome barriers, such as language and a sense of belonging, by pairing siblings together in the same art camp, creating take-home art kits and experiences, and providing drop-in programs that are flexible.
With your help, we can connect newcomers with art that helps them thrive.
