Long-term Desired Outcome
In looking at the PEI experience relative to the rest of the country, we are very much on point in terms of the changes and trends we are experiencing. With more unchecked rescue activity world wide, the continued challenge of unethical breeding and the increasing trend to wanting pets in our homes, even when the capacity to care for them is limited by many factors, we do not see the work of the humane society decreasing, but rather shifting to this new normal of high needs animals. Our aim as an organization and the intent of this renovation project is to ensure we have the capacity to respond to these changes. Prevention, good animal protection service and rehabilitation are key to providing proper care to companion animals, and form the basis of this renovation project.
