We have been serving Seniors in our Community for 23 years with a day program. This also helps care givers with free time for themselves.
We would like to introduce you to the High Steppers Seniors Club. Our program is open to Seniors from the St. Boniface, Windsor Park, Southdale and St. Vital areas of Winnipeg. We were established by volunteers from Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and Windsor Park United Church, and we have been serving this community for 23 years. We accept seniors in the early stages of Alzheimer's.
One of our main concerns has always been getting Seniors out and into a program that they could become part of and enjoy once or twice a week. Our other goal is to help the caregivers of many of our seniors have a day to rest, do chores, or make medical appointments etc. for themselves while their loved one is participating in our program.
Our program is now running out of Winakwa Community Centre on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm. This facility is handicap accessible. We have room for 12 seniors each day and we also have many wonderful volunteers helping serve and having fun with our seniors. We serve the Seniors lunch and have a morning and afternoon coffee break time. The rest of the day we play games, do exercises, sing, or go on outings.
