TEMBO (Tanzania Education and Micro-Business Opportunity) is a federally incorporated, registered Canadian charity supporting two Tanzanian partner organizations that work to improve access to education and economic opportunities for girls and women in Longido District.
In northern Tanzania, poverty affects many families, shaping the lives of both girls and women. Girls are often married as early as 13, cutting short their education and their dreams for the future. For women, limited economic opportunities make it difficult to provide for their families.
TEMBO supports programs allowing girls to stay in school and women the opportunity to build small businesses so they can provide for their families with dignity and hope.
We also support community learning through the Longido District Learning Centre. Informal education programs continue to have a significant impact on the quality of life for the entire Longido community.
