Belvedere residence is a charitable organization providing affordable housing since 1973 for independent men and women with financial, medical and emotional problems.  We have an in-house manager supporting residents five half-days per week and overnight in-house supervision every day of the year. Our thirty rooms are all occupied, and many residents have been with us for years.  Rental fees are currently (2022-2023) $335 per month; these fees cover about 75% of our usual operating expenses.  Capital expenditures (those greater than $10,000 one-time expenditures) are in addition to usual operating expenditures. In 2021 - 2022 these included replacement of all windows on the front facade of Belvedere, replacement and updating of emergency signage and lighting, and improvements to the ventilation systems, for a total cost of more than $70,000.

Grants and donations from foundations and individuals cover costs not met through rental income. The Corporation functions without governmental financial assistance. Additional support comes from volunteer activities; these include the painting of rooms by the Rotary Club of Westmount and other volunteers and gardening maintenance support.  Public Health services have been very supportive, particularly with vaccination sessions throughout COVID.
