Our Mission
Pugalug Pug Rescue is a volunteer-run, Toronto-based organization dedicated to giving vulnerable pugs a second chance at life. We act as the bridge between a pug’s past and its future forever home—providing medical care, safety, stability, and love every step of the way.
Every pug that enters our rescue receives:
-
Compassionate, individualized care
-
Comprehensive veterinary treatment
-
A nurturing foster environment
-
Careful evaluation to match them with the perfect forever home
Our priority is always the pug's well-being, both during their time in rescue and when selecting the adoptive home that best meets their needs.
How We Operate
We do not run a shelter or walk-in facility. Rescued pugs are placed in loving foster homes, not kennels. Adoption is never about finding a pug quickly or cheaply—it’s about finding the right match.
All potential adopters must:
-
Complete a detailed application
-
Participate in a home visit
-
Provide references
-
Agree to responsible, long-term care requirements
This process helps ensure that each pug, already recovering from upheaval, never has to re-enter rescue.
Why Your Support Matters
Pugalug spends an average of $3,500 per pug to provide the veterinary care, surgeries, medications, and rehabilitation they need before joining their forever family. Your donations directly fund these lifesaving interventions and help us give every pug the healthiest, happiest fresh start possible.
Planning a Fundraiser?
If you’re hosting a birthday campaign, wedding fundraiser, or community event in support of Pugalug, we’d love to help. Email us in advance, and we can provide promotional materials to support your efforts.
