Established in February of 2023, Rags To Riches Cat Rescue is a volunteer-driven, community-focused federally registered charity organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and adopting out cats and kittens to their loving furever homes.
Our shelter facility is located in Tillsonburg, Ontario where there are no other animal services for the surrounding community and there is no support for strays, dumped or lost pet cats. We do not receive government funding and rely strictly on public donations to operate. Rags To Riches Cat Rescue serves not only Tillsonburg, but residents of Norfolk, Oxford, and Elgin Counties on a near-daily basis, providing both practical benefits in stray population management and emotional benefits by bringing hope, safety, and community pride to neighborhoods affected by abandoned and at-risk cats. Volunteers and foster networks engage residents in meaningful ways, offering opportunities to care for animals, advocate for responsible pet ownership, and build a compassionate, connected community.
Rescue & Intake: Emergency rescues and general requests from Tillsonburg and surrounding area residents to save stray and dumped cats and kittens from the streets, countrysides, and unsafe situations.
Medical Care: Providing necessary veterinary care, vaccinations, spay/neuter services, and rehabilitation for rescued cats.
Community Education: Offering guidance and resources on responsible pet ownership, including spay/neuter programs, proper care, and socialization.
Volunteer Engagement: Providing opportunities for residents to participate in fostering, fundraising and volunteering at our shelter, strengthening community involvement.
Adoption Services: Matching rescued cats with permanent, loving homes, improving animal welfare and reducing stray populations. Adoptions are mainly hosted at our private property shelter facility, Pet Valu Tillsonburg, and My Kitty Cafe in Guelph to maximize accessibility.
Through these services, Rags To Riches Cat Rescue enhances the social and cultural wellbeing of the community, reduces the number of stray and at-risk cats, and promotes compassionate, responsible pet ownership.
