Rainbow Resource Centre is creating a Place of Pride where 2SLGBTQ+ people can belong and thrive. The Place of Pride initiative will create a new kind of space that will position Rainbow to be nimble and responsive to evolving needs while offering a safe, friendly place to gather and belong. Importantly, in partnership with Westminster Housing Society, the Place of Pride will create safe, welcoming homes to meet the urgent need for deeply affordable housing for 2SLGBTQ+ older adults.
It is time to create a place 2SLGBTQ+ people can call their own and feel at home – a Place of Pride. The $18.5-million project will create a 2SLGBTQ+ campus where people at every age and stage of life can access programs, connect with community resources, or just drop in and be welcomed by a caring community. The campus will encompass:
• a new apartment building with deeply affordable rents, built in partnership with Westminster Housing Society
• a new home for Rainbow Resource Centre operations
• outdoor and indoor community gathering spaces
• a re-purposed, historic home to use used for Rainbow Resource Centre offices
