RainCity Housing’s mission is to advance social equity by building upon the strengths of our community and of each individual. Through innovative practices we provide housing and support, promote health, and facilitate hope, opportunity and change. 

Everyone we meet has a unique story. Listening to these stories has taught us not to judge, to replace stereotypes with open hearts, and to live generously. If someone is on the street, it’s because it’s the safest or only option they have. That’s why our team works tirelessly to build connections with people that are inclusive and reciprocal, while creating spaces where people can be safe, respected and heard. 

RainCity Housing and Support Society is a nonprofit organization with strong roots in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. The people we serve have a history of trauma, homelessness, and the symptoms that these experiences bring with them. Living in poverty is difficult and we strive to offer people choices, both in terms of housing and supports. First, we listen, then learn, so we can continuously adapt our housing and supports, either by expanding current approaches to new communities or developing new ways of working. 

RainCity Housing operates over 30 programs in 20 buildings in 12 municipalities. We provide a wide variety of services that include emergency shelter, transitional housing, housing for women (trans and cis inclusive), women-led families, long-term housing, and a number of clinical outreach teams throughout Vancouver’s lower mainland.
