OUR MISSION
The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, Vancouver Centre (RASC Vancouver) is dedicated to the advancement of Astronomy and allied sciences through public outreach, public telescope observing events, support of educational institutions, science fair awards, and advocating in support of light pollution abatement.
ABOUT OUR CHARITY
RASC Vancouver is one of 29 chapters of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. Monthly meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at Simon Fraser University, Burnaby Campus, and free to attend.
Weather permitting, we host several public observing sessions in various locations in the Metro Vancouver area.
RASC Vancouver also works to assist teachers in elementary and secondary schools as well as leaders for Brownies, Beavers, Guides, and Scouts by providing tools and materials in support of astronomy education.
We work with local governments to provide assistance in developing responsible lighting policy to promote the reduction of light pollution and night sky preservation in our region.
