Your donation of $25 can provide life-saving medicine and specially formulated food to one child recovering from serious malnutrition.
Each month the Centre for Education of Women & Children (C-NEW-C) in Cap Haitian, Haiti, treats 45-75 children in various stages of malnutrition. Following the WHO protocol for "Medika Mamba" (a peanut-based fortified formula that is the gold standard in treating malnutrition), children are usually returned to a healthy weight within 8 weeks.
Once children are returned to health they are transferred upstairs to a newly renovated nursery program, where they receive top quality care and stimulation appropriate for their age group. At the same time, their parents or caregivers can enroll in adult programming (literacy classes, practical skills training, health and hygiene education).
The holistic program helps the family at each stage of development and works with them to break the cycle of poverty.
