Each month the Centre for Education of Women & Children (C-NEW-C) in Cap Haitian, Haiti, treats 35-45 infants and toddlers in various stages of malnutrition. Following the WHO protocol for "Medika Mamba" (a peanut-based fortified formula that is the gold standard in treating malnutrition), children are usually returned to a healthy weight within 8 weeks. 

Children receive top quality care and stimulation appropriate for their age group. At the same time, parents and caregivers can enroll in training that will equip them with essential knowledge to prevent malnutrition, foster healthy child development and prepare nutritious meals for their growing families. In a holistic model, parents/caregivers can also access adult literacy classes, practical skills training, and microcredit loans/business development to empower them with skills and confidence to break the cycle of poverty permanently.
