Our Mission
Reachout is a community comprised of a diverse mix of people. Some of these people are young and some are mature. Some possess much material wealth while others possess precious little. Some are admitted addicts while others are not. Some are white, some have a bit more colour than that. Some believe in God, some don't, and others just aren't sure either way. This is a community of men and women possessing unique stories of pain and progress, hope and helplessness, bravery and brokeness.
But each person in this diverse community has a need. And each person has a gift to offer. In coming together relationships of trust and love are built, and people learn to receive the gifts that come from the lives of those they serve. This is a horizontal action. There is no vertical handing down of help. The poor are not a problem to be fixed.
Reachout finds it's center in the teachings of Jesus the Messiah. In fact, the name Reachout comes from the way he loved those no one else would while he lived on this planet.
So then, part of the organization's focus is to equip local churches of all denominations to care for those who seem to be left behind by the "successful" first world society. Projects that are relevant and can be duplicated are made available to churches that see the need to be like Jesus and reachout to those who seem to be the most dangerous to love. Specific training by professionals, networked support in the surrounding community of service providers and regular evaluation is also provided.
