To provide local amateur classical music and speech students of all ages an opportunity to perform publicly, and to receive assessments from professional adjudicators.
About RED DEER FESTIVAL OF THE PERFORMING ARTS SOCIETY
Being an annual week-long event, awards are given to those performers who excel and they may also be provided, based on adjudicator recommendations, with the opportunity to perform at Provincial and National festivals.
The Red Deer Festival of the Performing Arts is a non-profit society that was established by the Kiwanis Club of Red Deer in 1964, and well over 1000 students participate each year. Total budget is approximately $60000 about half of which is covered by donations, and about $14000 is disbursed through awards. It operates through the efforts of volunteers.
