The need for eating disorders literacy and prevention education is immediate and growing.
Reframe Voices Society was founded in 2025 (operating from British Columbia) to advance education and address and prevent specific problems faced by families and youth by providing workshops and presentations on disordered eating and eating disorders to parents and guardians of children and youth.
It is estimated, nearly 1 in 4 adolescents (8-25 years old) are impacted by an eating disorder in Canada and despite serious health complications, less than 25% of young people living with an eating disorder will seek or receive treatment. Meanwhile, the mortality rate associated with Anorexia alone is 12x greater than all other diseases for females 15-24 years-old.
Most parents and guardians are unaware of the practical steps they can take to help reduce the risk of eating disorders from developing in their child, or their child’s immediate community. The cost of inaction is too high. Families cannot afford to wait and see, and neither can the children and youth who benefit most when prevention ‘talk’ begins at home.
Can you help us reach more families?
(Our purpose-built board provides governance and council from backgrounds in Child Psychology, Developmental Education, Adult Education, Health and Wellness, Communications, Fundraising Marketing and Finance, holding space for those recovered from lived experience of eating disorders.)
