Empowering refugee and new immigrant women through education , counselling for domestic violence, and access to food security during Covid.
Refugee Women’s Network (RWN) was established in 2016 as a response to the needs of refugee women settling in Canada by bridging the multiple barriers and supporting newcomer women through education, advocacy, and supportive programs.
The programs at Refugee Women’s Network are for women only, facilitated by women. All the programs are offered virtually on Zoom in real time. This gives women across Canada the opportunity to join and participate as part of a social network with other women facing the same barriers and challenges.
The programs focus on several areas of supporting newcomer women through their settlement like Empower to Power which includes English as a Second Language(ESL) program, Digital Empowerment and Economic Enterprise, all employable skills, and Financial Literacy.
Another program providing women with a space to share the challenges they are facing is Women Helping Women. It functions as a support group offering women a safe space to share their challenges they may be facing. We provide subject matter experts to help refugee women learn how to overcome the barriers they face, their rights in Canada, and how to advocate for themselves and their families.
At Refugee Women's Network, we help women through their resettlement by providing sustainable skills to enable them to support their families, to advocate for their children and to support aging family members. These are the same challenges facing Canadian women. We will help assess their language abilities, provide language programs, prepare them for formal education, provide access to training and development, and help them become confident, empowered, and self-sufficient.
MISSION:
To empower women with tools and resources to enhance and develop their skills through education to successfully integrate into Canadian society while still maintaining respective cultural values.
VISION:
To help refugee and new immigrant women become a vibrant part of Canada's economic and social development growth.
