The Regent Theatre, a historic cultural landmark in Prince Edward County, requires a full restoration of its iconic marquee and vertical blade sign. This project will address critical deterioration in electrical systems, neon signage, roofing, and decorative metal finishes. The restoration will preserve the theatre’s heritage character, improve public safety, enhance downtown vibrancy, and support year‑round cultural programming. The total project cost is estimated at $125,000  with $25,000 raised to date.

 Statement of Need 

The Regent Theatre marquee is a defining feature of the community’s streetscape and a symbol of local cultural identity. However, decades of exposure to weather, aging electrical components, and deterioration of neon lighting have resulted in: 

• Failing electrical wiring and outdated transformers 

• Rusted metal surfaces and peeling paint 

• Water infiltration due to membrane failure 

• Non‑functional neon lighting 

• Safety concerns related to aging structural components 

Without intervention, the marquee will continue to deteriorate, posing risks to the public and diminishing the theatre’s ability to attract audiences and support local arts.
