About Our Charity

Renfrew and Area Seniors’ Home Support is a non-profit, charitable organization that has been providing volunteer-based support services to seniors and adults with disabilities since 1987.

Our dedicated staff and volunteers work together to fulfill our mission of supporting independence, dignity, and quality of life within our community. Through practical, volunteer-based services, we help seniors and adults with disabilities remain as active and independent as possible while continuing to live in their own homes and communities for as long as possible.

By providing meaningful support and fostering community connections, we help individuals maintain their independence and remain engaged in the places they call home.

Services

Non-Urgent Medical Transportation helps ensure that seniors and adults with disabilities can access necessary out-of-town medical appointments safely, comfortably, and affordably. Our volunteer drivers provide dependable transportation, helping clients attend essential appointments while reducing the transportation challenges and costs associated with travelling outside their community.

Home Maintenance provides seniors and adults with disabilities with access to affordable assistance for light property maintenance. Our services help clients keep their homes and properties safe, well-maintained, and comfortable, supporting their ability to remain independent in their own homes and communities. There is a charge for this service.

Frozen Meals provide nutritious, tasty, and economical meal options designed to meet approximately 40% of an individual’s daily nutritional requirements. Our low-fat, low-sodium meals are easy to prepare and conveniently delivered free of charge by dedicated volunteers, helping seniors and adults with disabilities maintain healthy eating habits while remaining independent in their own homes.

Our Grocery Program provides assistance to residents of the Town of Renfrew who are unable to do their grocery shopping themselves. Clients simply provide us with their grocery list, and our dedicated volunteers shop on their behalf and deliver the groceries directly to their homes. This service helps seniors and adults with disabilities maintain access to essential food while supporting their independence and ability to remain in their community.

Friendly Visiting provides one-on-one social contact and companionship to help reduce loneliness and social isolation. Through regular visits, conversation, friendship, and ongoing communication, our volunteers help stimulate interest, promote emotional well-being, and enhance quality of life. These meaningful connections are an important part of healthy and active living.

Telephone Assurance helps promote the safety and well-being of seniors and adults with disabilities who live alone or spend significant amounts of time on their own. Regular telephone calls provide reassurance, social connection, and peace of mind for both clients and their loved ones.

Client Intervention and Assistance provides support to seniors and adults with disabilities by helping them access information, navigate available services and resources, and address their individual needs. Through general advocacy and assistance, we help clients connect with the supports they need while promoting their independence and well-being.
