Mission
Répit le Zéphyr is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the social integration of individuals living with an intellectual disability (ID) or an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), while enabling their families to achieve greater freedom of action.
Objectives
- To offer respite and in-home caregiving services to families caring for a loved one child or adult living with an ID or ASD.
- To provide accompaniment during social outings aimed at promoting integration and participation. Examples include day camps, cultural activities, etc.
- To offer an information and referral service.
In-home Respite and Caregiving
Services may be provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, depending on family needs and the availability of support workers.
Respite Services
A set of planned services that allow caregivers to take time to rest and recharge, in order to offset the additional stress and fatigue caused by the particular needs of a child or an adult living with one or more disabilities. These services aim to prevent family caregiver burnout and help them better organize their daily lives.
Caregiving Services
Caregiving is intended as support provided not only because parents are exhausted or need temporary assistance, but also because they need to organize their daily lives under conditions similar to those of other families.
Normalization
Répit le Zéphyr offers respite and caregiving services, leisure accompaniment, respite care in our respite homes located in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield and Vaudreuil-Dorion, respite through summer and spring break day camps, and accompaniment services for the integration or continued inclusion of children aged 0-5 in childcare settings. These services aim to promote the development of the individual’s autonomy that is, from a normalization perspective for individuals living with an ID or ASD through activities of daily living, recreational, educational, and social activities.
