Restorative Justice Chatham-Kent

about

Our Mission

We provide alternative pathways for at-risk youth, restoring a positive connection with the community, thereby creating a safer, healthier Chatham-Kent.

About Restorative Justice Chatham-Kent

Restorative Justice Chatham-Kent is a charitable, not for profit agency, with a mandate to provide alternative measures to youth between the ages of 12 and 17. Examples of such alternative measures are Extrajudicial Measures Program (Pre-Charge Diversion) and Restorative Justice Community Conferencing, funded by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services and delivered in conjunction with the Chatham-Kent Police Service, as they diligently screen and refer the appropriate youth cases to the agency. We also deliver the Extrajudicial Sanctions Program - a youth diversion program at the court-level, delivered in partnership with the Crown Attorney.

Along with various community partners, we are continually striving to contribute in the development of a safer, stronger, and happier Chatham-Kent. One of the ways our agency aims to achieve this goal is by providing early intervention and educational programming to the youth throughout this community. Funding support from the United Way of Chatham-Kent and the Ontario Trillium Foundation allows for us to provide FREE individualized and one-on-one sessions through our Positive Strides Intervention Programming. The wide range of program modules we offer are available to youth in conflict with the law (often as part of the programs mentioned above) as well as any youth in the community (between 7 and 17), who may be ‘at-risk’ for delinquent or negative behaviour.
