Many Ukrainians will need psychological help

Support their mental health

Ukrainians are experiencing unprecedented levels of violence.

Canada has opened opened its doors to them.

But not everything is settled when they arrive here.

Many of these newcomers will remain scarred for the rest of their lives.

In many cases, post-traumatic stress disorder will not manifest itself before a few months, or even a year or two, as we have seen with the arrival of Syrian refugees.

Ukrainian newcomers are entitled to immediate provincial health care. But in Quebec, you have to wait up to two years to see a psychologist from the public network.

The Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) does not cover Ukrainians who arrive under the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET).

Since 1993, RIVO, a community network, has been the only service specializing in psychological care for newcomers who have experienced organized violence.

Our psychologists are experienced, committed and have an extensive cross-cultural experience.

Your generosity and solidarity are essential to the well-being of Ukrainian newcomers.
