Update for July 2024: Phase Two - The Mine Experience

We are thrilled to announce that we’ve entered the final design stage for Phase Two: The Mine Experience. As we prepare to submit our building permit, we are collaborating with MAD Studio Inc. and Panther Creative to develop our architectural and exhibition designs.

Bringing History to Life: The Mine Experience

Thanks to the generous $700,000 donation from Teck Trail Operations, we are embarking on an ambitious journey to create an immersive above-ground mine tunnel experience. This exhibit will provide a captivating and realistic interpretation of life in the mines of Red Mountain. Visitors will feel the pulse of history as they explore the sensory-rich environment, interact with mining machinery, and witness firsthand the challenges and triumphs of our mining ancestors.

Expanding Our Heritage: The New Entrance Gallery

Our new addition to the museum’s entrance gallery will not only expand the gift shop and visitor centre but also introduce a public theatre and temporary display space. This eye-catching structure will create a welcoming and dynamic entryway, enhancing circulation and usability. The expanded area will serve as a comprehensive introduction to the Teck Mine Experience tunnel, setting the stage for an unforgettable journey through time.
