It took us 10 seconds to say “yes” says Jennifer Boyd referring to her team and their decision of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for Polio eradication. In 1985 Rotary International made a promise to the children of the world to eradicate Polio! Since then they have eradicated Polio from all but three countries, Nigeria, Pakistan and Afghanistan. These results were largely due to the dedicated work of Rotarians from all over the world. As Rotarians ourselves, it was only natural that Polio would be our main objective as well. We are so close to eradicating this horrible disease from the world and what better way to kick it into full gear than to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. In February of 2015 we (Raffy, Jennifer and Ryan) had the opportunity to travel to India to participate in National Immunization Days. Walking through the slums and administrating the Polio vaccine was a life changing experience for all three of us. Each of us was affected differently by our surroundings but one thing that was certain was that we wanted to continue to make a difference in each child’s life and prevent them from getting this horrible disease. We ask that you help us raise $100 000 for our climb so that we can make sure that every child is immunized from this disease. We are climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Every Meter Counts. Mt. Kilimanjaro is approximately 5000 meters high. Your donation of $20 per meter will help us reach our goal: One meter at a time.
